Generous rugby league fans dug deep into their pockets at Widnes Vikings’ Challenge Cup match against Skirlaugh on Sunday to raise more than £9,600 for one of the UK’s leading cancer hospitals.

Skirlaugh coach Colin Brown could not have asked any more of his young charges as they gave Widnes Vikings a real game in the third round of the Challenge Cup, going down 60-18.
