The carriageway at A165 South of Skirlaugh from  Mulberry Lane junction to Dowthorpe Hall is due to be resurfaced as part of the Capital programme to improve classified roads within the East Riding of Yorkshire. Attached is a copy of the site limits for your information.

Work is scheduled to commence on Tuesday 6th October 2009 and expected to be completed by 28th October 2009 (weather permitting), however, this scheme is programmed to follow on from the resurfacing work at A165 Coniston and therefore could be affected by any delay to that scheme. The work will consist of structural carriageway repairs, replacing defective/worn ironwork, replace up to 105mm deep of existing carriageway surface and reinstate road markings and studs. Isolated kerbing work is also required. The road will be resurfaced in sections of approximately 400 metres in length.

Due to the restricted width of the road and to undertake the work safely it will be necessary to employ a convoy traffic management system to regulate the speed of vehicles through the works. This system can cause delays and this may be the case during the resurfacing operation. To minimise disruption to residents and commuter traffic, daytime working hours will be restricted to 9.15am to 3.15pm Monday to Friday for the surfacing operation.

The section of  carriageway from Dowthorpe Hall to the 40mph limit is to be resurfaced at night due to the equipment required to tarmac that section. Work will commence at 6pm and is expected to take 6 hours to complete each night.

Morrison Highway Maintenance has been contracted to undertake the work on behalf of the East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
