Widnes forward Danny Hill has promised to give his brother Shaun the runaround when Skirlaugh travel to the Halton Stadium for their Challenge Cup third round clash tomorrow.
The pair go head to head in a bid to face the Super League big guns in the next round, only the second time the brothers have faced each other in senior rugby. The Vikings, who are harbouring dreams of a Super League franchise, should be far too strong for the current National Conference League Premier Division champions. But former Hull FC and Wigan star Danny, 23, is taking no chances ahead of the clash, and has tried to stoke up the family rivalry ahead of the big game.
"It will be great for me to be able to come up against my mates, especially Shaun," said Danny. "I don't think there's a lot of chance of him catching me though as I am fitter then ever and he has put too much weight on! "But seriously, we are going to pay Skirlaugh the utmost respect as this is their cup final. "We are expecting to win but we are certainly not taking anything for granted as we know they are a good side. "With me knowing a lot about the Skirlaugh camp, my coach Steve McCormack is picking my brains about how they play. "Here at Widnes they are really going for it and the chairman Steve O'Connor has put a lot of money into the grand plan. "I know Skirlaugh have players in the side like Mark Spence, our kid and Steve Cochran, although I think he's suspended. "They will give it their all, and they will enjoy the day, but I don't think they will get the win, at least I hope not." While Shaun, 24, is happy for Danny to have his fun, he is determined that Skirlaugh will not make things easy for the Cheshire side. The Hull City Council refuse collector is adamant Widnes will not walk all over the amateurs. He said: "Getting a big team like Widnes is a dream for players like us as we are trying to aspire at amateur level to what they do at professional level. "It's okay Danny having his bit of fun but I'll get him back and we'll have to wait and see what happens tomorrow. "The only other time we've come up against each other is when I was at Embassy Longhill and Danny was at West Hull, I can't remember who won. "One thing I do know is everyone at Skirlaugh will be trying their hardest, but it's a massive challenge. "The reality for us is to make sure we prepare as well as we can and give it a real go but without a realistic chance of winning. "It's more about the day and the occasion for us and what we can achieve as both players and as a club." Skirlaugh will be without tough-tackling hooker Steve Cochran, who is suspended for this game, and his place will be taken by Craig Todd This will mean a place on the bench for youngster Tommy Harrison, alongside emerging Great Britain under-18 captain Johnny Young.
