Skirlaugh Village - An East Riding of Yorkshire Village
Skirlaugh Parish Council Minutes - November 2003
Meeting of Skirlaugh Parish Council, 12th November 2003
1. Highways matters: ERYC will be contacted regarding the following:
remedial work on the grass verges and footpaths which has not yet been carried out;
the road surface in Langdale Villas which requires repair;
provision of "Access Only" signs at each end of Lambwath Villas service road, which may help prevent non-residents' vehicles parking here;
the damaged name sign for Main Road near the mini-roundabout which has still not been replaced.
Results of traffic speed monitoring on the A165 and whether or not it is likely that electronic speed warning signs will be installed.
2 A revised proposal for double yellow lines on Church Lane has been received and would appear to be acceptable, taking into consideration the comments of the shops which will be affected.
3. The dog warden will be asked to fix dog fouling warning notices to the new lighting columns on the Cawood estate.
4. Children's play area: Cllr. Frost reported that the playground equipment on the playing field is not in a useable condition. However, the long grass has now been cut. The Parish Council has been asked if it will take over reponsibility for the maintenance of the equipment. This will be discussed further at the December meeting. Cllr. Frost is looking into the provision of new equipment and grant aid.
5. Cllr. McLeavy will check and repair as necessary the two benches which are placed outside the shops during summer. Cllr. Conlon offered to inspect these regularly while they are outside. Cllr. Conlon was also thanked for planting up at the village name signs with winter pansies.
6. The provision of a map of the village was discussed and a firm which supplies signage will be approached for information.
7. There are still two vacancies on the Parish Council. One new parishioner has expressed an interest in joining the council when he becomes eligible. Any parishioner aged over 21 and who is on the Register of Electors or has lived in the parish for 12 months may offer themselves for co-option to the council. An open forum is held at the start of each meeting at which parishioners are welcome to discuss matters relating to the parish.
8. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday 3rd December at 7.30 p.m. in the village hall upstairs meeting room.
