Skirlaugh Village - An East Riding of Yorkshire Village

Skirlaugh Parish Council Minutes - October 2003

Meeting of Skirlaugh Parish Council, 1st October 2003

1.    Dog fouling stencils:  ERYC has kindly provided more stencils and paint and Cllr. McKernan has been busy decorating the footpaths with these.  Please ensure your dog takes notice and does not leave any deposits on the paths or the owner will be liable to prosecution and a fine.

2.    ERYC will be asked again about re-seeding grass verges where digging work has taken place, and also about making good around the new street lighting on Cawood estate.  It was noted that footpaths generally are in poor condition.  This will be monitored and discussed again when lighting installation has been completed.

3.    Plans for obtaining a Christmas tree are going ahead.  Cllr. Frost will arrange the delivery of a tree and installation of the lights.  A date in December for the switching-on will be arranged.  A special event is planned in which village organisations will be able to participate and to which all parishioners will be invited.

4.    Traffic speed:  ERYC has been monitoring speeds on the A165.  Results will be issued when analysis is complete, probably around the end of October.

5.    ERYC has introduced a scheme whereby parish councils can fund the provision of salt bins in locations where ERYC would not install them.  The cost is £160 per bin per year.  This will be discussed further at the next meeting.

6.    The next parish council meeting will be held on Wednesday 12th November at 7.30 p.m. in the Village Hall.  There are still two vacancies on the council.  Anyone interested in joining is welcome to attend a meeting.  You must be aged 21 or over, be on the register of electors or have lived in or within 3 miles of the parish for 12 months.  Full details of eligibility can be obtained from the Clerk.
