Skirlaugh Loses Power

THOUSANDS of homes across East Yorkshire experienced power cuts today, caused by gusts of up to 55mph.
According to CE Electric, distributors of power for the north east, including Yorkshire, about 3,000 homes had blackouts. At 6pm on Sunday, about 500 homes were still without electricity in areas covered by the postcodes HU17 and HU11, which includes Beverley and its surrounding villages including Skirlaugh which had power restored within about 90 minutes
Pete Carr, spokesman for CE Electric, said: “Emergency teams are on the ground carrying out repairs to damaged overhead power lines.
“At its peak, about 2pm, we estimate 3,000 homes were without power.”
