Skirlaugh Village - An East Riding of Yorkshire Village
Skirlaugh Parish Council Minutes - July 2004
Meeting of Skirlaugh Parish council, 7th July 2004
1. The meeting was attended by Cllr. Diana Hoskins of ERYC; also two parishioners who had concerns about the planning application for new play equipment to be located in the corner of the playing field near Old Forge Way.
2. The new play equipment was the first item to be discussed. It was suggested that new regulations on siting of play equipment may mean that it could not fit into the corner where the old equipment was located. However it would not be possible to site the equipment elsewhere on the field because of the space taken up by the cricket and football pitches. The parishioners were concerned about noise and nuisance caused by youths gathering at the site and also that the equipment may be vulnerable to vandalism because it is out of sight in this corner of the field. Following advice from ERYC a revised plan was proposed, placing the equipment in two separate sections in the same corner of the field. The Parish Council decided unanimously to recommend approval of the application.
3. Cllr. Frost had met with representatives from ERYC to walk around the village for two hours one morning. Various matters relating to highways and maintenance were discussed.
4. Grounds maintenance matters: The gravel on the path through the churchyard will be renewed shortly. The yew tree on the closed section of the churchyard is overgrown. The ERYC tree officer will be asked to have a look and advise on pruning. A new bench has been purchased to replace the old one near Cawood Drive. The fence around the playing field on the Millhouse Way boundary is in need of repair. The Parish council will arrange for this to be done. ERYC will be asked to deal with overgrown trees/shrubs on Vicarage Lane and Benningholme Lane.
5. Cllr. Waddingham had attended a presentation on small scale wind farms.
6. Bus It, a charity which provides information to the public on all forms of public transport, has asked if their bus can visit Skirlaugh. It will be suggested they contact the Village Hall to ask if they can use the car park there.
7. A donation of £100 will be made to the HART community bus to help with their running costs. This provides a service for people living in rural areas to get to hospitals, doctors and dentists surgeries.
8. The internal audit of the Parish Council's accounts for the year ended 31.3.2004 has been completed. The annual statement will be sent to the Audit commission.
9. The next meeting of the Parish Council will be held on Wednesday 4th August at 7.30 p.m. in the Village Hall.
